Something you won't find in any restaurant/ dhaba and when you are looking for the new delicious item and feeling bored with your regular breakfast options, here you go with Tadka Idly. Tadka idli is a very delicious and healthy recipe as I found and my hubby is loving it a lot nowadays. This is my all time favourite breakfast option and tea time snack with tamarind chutney. You can enjoy it in tea time too. It's very easy and simple to prepare it. Let’s know how to prepare.
Semolina / Suji 1 cup
Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
Curry leaves 8 - 10 leaves
Curd ½ cup
Red chilli powder ¼ teaspoon
Salt 1 teaspoon
Green chillies finely chopped 3 - 4
Oil 3 tablespoon
Eno salt 1 pouch
Baking powder ½ teaspoon
How to make?
First of all, pour Suji in a bowl. Add curd, salt, red chilli powder, baking powder and 1 tablespoon oil in it. Mix all the ingredients well with the help of whisker. Keep this mix aside for 15 minutes at least. Add Eno salt just before when you ready to steam. Eno will bubble the mixture when added. This is what will make idlis soft and spongy. Now add water in the container (idli maker, pressure cooker) whatever you are going to use and put on the gas. Rub some oil with the help of brush on idli moulds so that idlis will not stick on that. Now pour batter into moulds and make sure water in the idli maker must be hot enough till now. Place the moulds in a container and cover the container. Steaming time will vary depending upon the container you choose. I use the steel made container so it will take 15-20 minutes to prepare idlis but usually silver made containers take less time approx 10-15 minutes. I have steel made so use that one.
When the idlis steam well put out from the moulds. Add some oil in a pan. Put mustard seeds and green chillies in hot oil when mustard seeds begin to splutter add curry leaves, a pinch of salt, a pinch of red chilli powder in it and add idlis immediately. Saute idlis for 1 - 2 minutes So that it will turn crispy, somewhat looks like golden brown.
Now serve it with tamarind chutney. It will taste awesome.
